Craig Burston, General Manager
Based in Auckland, Craig has responsibility for Optinet’s overall day to day operations and strategic direction. Craig has over 25 years in the IT industry with senior roles including; client relationship management, new business development, sales management and start-ups. His focus is to grow the business through relationships, innovation and delivering great solutions for complex requirements.

Gareth Williams, National Service Manager
Gareth is our Service Manager responsible for Optinet’s service operations. Gareth has over 29 years’ experience in the ICT industry and 10 years managing a large network support for one of NZ largest Service Providers.

Jon Culley, Project Manager Jon is based out of the Auckland office and is responsible for the end to end management of all Optinet projects. Originally from the UK, Jon has spent over 24 years in the IT industry with many years of experience working for large corporate companies in the UK with offices across Europe. Settling in NZ in 2007, Jon has been working within the Auckland region managing IT projects for a variety of clients. Since joining the Optinet team in 2017, he is focussed on ensuring that Optinet projects are delivered to a high standard for all customers.

Damon Lord, Network Consulting Manager
Damon has been with the company since 2005. He plays a key role in pre-sales design, installation and support of our solutions for our Auckland client base. Originating from the UK, Damon has 15 years of experience in IT and is certified in Blue Coat, Fortinet, and F5, and holds an Honours degree.



John Baylon, Network Engineer

Based in Auckland, John's main role is to look after the network infrastructure of Optinet's clients. John has been in the IT networking industry for over 8 years and joined the Optinet team after working as a Network Engineer for major banks in the Philippines.


Brett Swinnen, Network Security Consultant

Based in Wellington, Brett has worked in the ICT security for over 15 years and now utilises his skills as a consultant. His work with major enterprise customers in both Europe and the U.S.A. assists him in his work guiding Wellington enterprises through the cyber security landscape.

Jaco van der Westhuizen, Account Director
Jaco is based in the Auckland office and responsible for managing the ongoing relationship with our major customers. Jaco is an experienced Sales Executive with more than 15 years of experience in security solution sales across United Kingdom, South Africa and New Zealand. His areas of expertise include all aspects of security, including perimeter, web, email, network, managed security and cloud computing. His expertise is on the protection of high-value information assets, helping NZ companies to protect and manage their systems throughout their lifecycles.

Paul Thompson, Business Development Manager

Servicing the Wellington enterprise and government markets, Paul brings over 20 years IT sales and service experience to Optinet. Born and raised in Wellington but well-travelled, Paul has worked in a variety of Technology industries from telecommunications, infrastructure, unified communications and services. In previous roles Paul has been intimately involved in the various government procurement vehicles such as GETS, ONE Govt as well as TaaS so he is well versed in the processes of Government. Paul’s role is to be the face of Optinet in Wellington, sharing the value that the business currently brings to valuable clients and explaining how we can serve others. Paul’s motto is that ‘I can achieve nothing unless I help you achieve something.’

Shaun Chaney, Networking Engineer

With 5+ years of experience working in IT, Shaun has worked with a wide range of technologies and continues to evolve his skills working with Optinet. Shaun has been based in the Auckland office since August 2016 and manages the day to day BAU tickets and on boarding of customers.


Joanne Martinez- Network Engineer

Situated in Wellington, Joanne has worked in the ICT industry for 12 years, mainly finding herself in multinational companies. Joanne has particular expertise in routing and switching, load balancers and proxies.
